Stansfield College has an outstanding team of lecturers who support the various programmes offered at the College. Staff members are committed to going the extra mile to provide guidance to our students. Our full-time and adjunct lecturers are dedicated to ‘simplifying the complex’ and in focusing on guiding students through the academic rigours of the syllabus and the examinations, which are set and marked to strict standards by the respective awarding bodies.
Stansfield College provides students with the option of full-time or part-time modes of study for most of its programmes. Students who require comprehensive academic support and a structured study environment are recommended to enrol on the full-time programme.
Stansfield College also recognises that adult learners, interested to pursue a part-time course of studies, prefer a schedule which allows a balance between work, personal commitments and classes. Our evening programmes are therefore designed with flexibility of pace and affordability in mind. Students on the part-time programmes usually come for classes twice a week in the evenings or weekends.
Stansfield College’s student body consists of students from all walks of life and profession adding greatly to the educational, cultural and social experience at the College.
At Stansfield, we are committed to totally immersing our students in their subjects to optimise their chances of not only passing but excelling at their chosen path of studies. We provide an exceptionally high lecturer to student ratio and limit student numbers to a maximum of 24 students per class. Tutorials are conducted to follow-up on the lectures for full-time studies to ensure students comprehend the topics covered in the lectures. The small lecture and tutorial size allow for peer-to-peer learning, better interaction and encouraging more proactive participation from the students, and for lecturers to better assess each student and their individual learning capabilities.
The programme held at the beginning of the course is aimed to provide a smooth transition for students into their course of study as well as to acclimatise international students to local culture and living. Students will be briefed on the various administrative and academic procedures and orientate and induct the students into the culture of Stansfield College. The programme is mainly designed to provide foundation skills and familiarise students with aspects of each subject the students will be studying before the commencement of their programme.
Upon completion of the curriculum, Stansfield conducts an Intensive Revision course over 6 weeks just before the University of London examinations to refresh key points within each subject so as to ensure the students are well prepared for the actual University examinations. Stansfield law students attend the revision course for free and the College welcomes other students who may wish to register just for the revision course (please enquire with our admissions team for the fee details). The revision sessions are usually held in the months of March and April yearly for the May/June examinations.
In the real world, people have to work alongside each other to achieve organisational goals and work place targets. Stansfield students are exposed to similar environments and are taught the skills needed for survival at the work place such as forming and working in a collaborative relationship. Students are assigned to study groups and form the basis of our peer-to-peer teaching and learning at the College. Students are expected to meet regularly and work together in the pooling of knowledge and the building of learning resources. Student mentors rotate to conduct, assist and observe the supervised study group and to enhance as well as motivate the group dynamics.
