The Stansfield Approach to Teaching
The college believes in the philosophy of recruiting only the most committed lecturers who are qualified to teach and work in an environment which caters to teaching international students from the region as well as local Singaporean students. The College offers the University of London degree and diploma programmes on a full-time basis through the Day College where the students attend classes daily during the weekdays while the Evening College students attend classes 2-3 times a week in the evenings. In a normal teaching week, each faculty may be teaching an average of between 18 to 22 hours.

All teaching staff would be required to do their own preparation and to produce about 4 to 6 pages of handouts for an hour of lecture. During class, all lecturers are required to use powerpoint presentations and must have the special ability to ‘make the complex look simple’ to ensure the success of every student in the demanding University of London examinations.

The faculty would also be required to set 2 internal mock examinations in an academic year and would be required to mark these as well. For first year students, there would usually be 5 assignments given to students during the academic year which must be marked promptly and returned to the students with comments within the stipulated period.

Faculty will be involved during the student admissions interviews and will be required to counsel and guide students in the course of study.
