This degree is recommended if you:
• Wish to build your analytical ability: all that high-level sleuthing for links and differences will make you
highly logical as well as developing your intuitive skills. You'll be able to digest a large amount of
information quickly and efficiently.
• Wish to develop highly sophisticated reading skills - which means that you will be able to read lengthy
pieces without being sidetracked by 'fluff', and then summarise with impeccable accuracy.
• Wish to expand your presentation skills: you will produce high-level written work and give presentations,
both essential in the world of work.
Programme Structure
The degree consists of 12 units when taken through the Standard Route. The Diploma in English consists of 4 foundation units which must be passed to be eligible to transfer to the degree.
What are my career options?
The skills learnt in presenting ideas clearly and logically, critical thinking and ability to analyse complex
information are applicable for many careers including publishing, teaching and research, journalism, media and advertising to name a few.
